They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.</span></p></div><h3 data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ABOUT THE ROLE:</span></h3> <p>As an Operations Electrician, you will keep in-service substations, distribution, and campus power facilities running. This is an operating-plant job: inspect, maintain, switch, and restore equipment so load stays up. You will work with energized medium- and high-voltage systems under established safety standards, perform switching and operations up to 161 kV, and respond to faults and call-outs. This position is based in Memphis, TN.</p> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair in-service substation and campus electrical equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, relays, buswork, control systems, and station batteries.</li> <li>Perform medium-voltage switching and operations up to 161 kV: write or follow switching orders, isolate and de-energize equipment, apply grounds, verify zero energy, and restore equipment to service.</li> <li>Own routine maintenance on medium- and high-voltage operating systems: inspections, lubrication, oil levels, heaters, lights, and connections.</li> <li>Respond to outages, faults, alarms, and call-outs; restore service and document what happened.</li> <li>Conduct electrical testing on in-service equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger) and assist with relay, transformer, and circuit breaker tests.</li> <li>Read and interpret one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and switching orders.</li> <li>Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues on running plant.</li> <li>Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding, clearance procedures, and PPE requirements.</li> <li>Coordinate switching and clearances with operators, engineers, and utility crews during planned and emergency outages.</li> <li>Document work performed, test results, and observations; keep operating records current.</li> <li>Operate company vehicles and specialized equipment; inspect and store personal protective equipment (PPE).</li> <li>Perform similar or less skilled incidental duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</span></h3> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalency certificate.</li> <li>3+ years of experience working as a licensed electrician.</li> <li>Medium-voltage electrical experience, including switching and operations.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance technology.</li> <li>Journeyman or master electrician license.</li> <li>Switching and operations experience on systems up to 161 kV (substation, industrial, or utility).</li> <li>Experience with medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, and distribution in substations, industrial plants, or data centers.</li> <li>Basic understanding of electrical principles (AC/DC circuits, safety standards).</li> <li>Ability to read prints/drawings and use common test tools.</li> <li>Proficiency with hand/power tools and physical tasks (lifting 50+ lbs, working at heights/confined spaces, outdoors in all weather).</li> <li>Strong safety focus, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in teams.</li> <li>Knowledge of print reading for drawings, manuals, and one-lines.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Schedule varies depending on site operational needs; frequent overtime and weekend support is required.</li> <li>Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights.</li> <li>Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, noise, heat, cold, and rain.</li> <li>Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.</li> <li>Stand: up to 6 hours per day.</li> <li>Sit: up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Push/Pull: up to 75 lbs. (unassisted) 1–2 hours per day.</li> <li>Overhead reach: up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Walk: up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Lift/Carry: up to 50 lbs. (unassisted) 1–2 hours per day.</li> <li>Climb (ladder/stairs): up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Kneel/Crouch: up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Upper body twist: up to 6 hours per day.</li> <li>Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 3 hours per day.</li> <li>Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights, in confined spaces, and working with medium- and high-voltage equipment. Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical.</li> <li>Willing to work on-site in Memphis, TN.
