About the role
ABOUT SOMETHINGS
Somethings is building the first social wellness platform for teens — a place where a teen can form a real relationship with a mentor who gets them, sticks with them, and helps them get better.
25 Million teens in the U.S. are struggling with their mental health. Every one of the thousands of teens who downloads Somethings is struggling. Our job is to make sure they don’t just show up — they stay, connect with real humans who care deeply about them, and get the support that they need to thrive.
We’re backed by General Catalyst and world-class healthcare + consumer investors, and we’re growing like crazy — in 2025 we grew 1100%, raised our $15M Series A, and are on track to 5x in 2026.
If you want to be a part of the generationally defining company in mental health, welcome home.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We're looking for our first Head of Recruiting to own how Somethings finds, evaluates, and wins the people who build it.
You are not just joining a recruiting function — you are creating one from the ground up.
For the first 6–12 months, you will be the sole operator: sourcing candidates, running pipelines, training interviewers, closing offers, and building the infrastructure that makes all of it repeatable. Over time, you will hire and lead a team of recruiters beneath you.
This role reports directly to the CEO and owns recruiting across:
- engineering, product, and design
- operations, growth, and clinical
- leadership and executive roles
The work is high ownership, high urgency, and deeply mission-driven:
You will be responsible for bringing in the people who support millions of struggling teens.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
1. OWN ALL CORE TEAM RECRUITING END-TO-END
- Source, screen, and close candidates across every function and level
- Manage pipelines with speed, rigor, and a relentless candidate experience
- Partner directly with the CEO and hiring managers to align on the right bar for every role
- Move fast without ever compromising on quality or culture fit
2. BUILD OUR RECRUITING FUNCTION FROM THE GROUND UP
- Select and implement an ATS and sourcing stack
- Design end-to-end hiring processes, interview loops, and scorecards for every role type
- Document quality bars and ensure they are consistently applied
- Train and coach interviewers to evaluate with structure and fairness
3. BUILD THE SOMETHINGS TALENT BRAND
- Tell our story to the market — candidates should feel our mission before they ever talk to us
- Develop outbound campaigns that attract people who want to build something that matters
- Turn employees into advocates and referrers
- Represent Somethings at events, in communities, and across platforms
4. PARTNER AT THE EXECUTIVE LEVEL
- Work directly with the CEO on org design, headcount forecasting, and hiring prioritization
- Advise on compensation bands, leveling, and competitive offer strategy
- Ensure every hire maps to company strategy and long-term organizational health
- Own the relationship between recruiting and the rest of the business
5. BUILD AND LEAD THE RECRUITING TEAM OVER TIME
- As the company scales, hire and develop a team of recruiters beneath you
- Create a culture of excellence, speed, and deep care for candidates
- Build systems and processes that allow the team to scale without you being the bottleneck
- Lead from the front — you'll still be hands-on even as the team grows
WHO YOU ARE
- 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including time in a senior or leadership capacity
- You've built recruiting infrastructure before — ATS implementations, process design, interview training — not just executed within an existing system
- You've successfully hired across multiple functions: technical, product, operations, and leadership
- You are both strategic and deeply hands-on — you can define the vision and then go source the candidates yourself
- You've worked in a startup or high-growth environment where speed and quality both matter and you've had to hold both at once
- You are a clear, direct, and warm communicator who represents a company's culture before candidates ever meet the team
- You have strong talent judgment — you can tell the difference between a good candidate and a great one, and you protect the bar even when there's pressure to move fast
- You want to build a team and a function — not just execute within someone else's system
HOW WE WORK
