About the role
ABOUT US
QuantWare is building the world’s most powerful quantum processors to solve humanity's greatest challenges. We do this with our unique VIO™ technology, the only QPU architecture that breaks the hardware barriers that have held quantum computing back, unlocking the path to MegaQubit quantum processors.
With VIO, we are paving the way for the hyper-scale quantum computers that will change the world. And delivering on that vision demands people who don’t shy away from tackling the hardest challenges of our time. That’s where you come in!
We are looking for a hands-on RF Design Engineer to spearhead the designs for our next-generation 3D quantum hardware architecture. You will be responsible for designing critical microwave components, innovating packaging solutions for large-scale Quantum Processor Units (QPUs), and bridging the gap between hardware and software by integrating designs into an automated workflow.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Component & Mechanical Design: Design critical electromechanical components that form the backbone of our QPUs. You will work closely with the simulation team to validate models and implement design improvements at both the chip and board levels.
- Precision Engineering: Utilise CAD to design PCBs, precision housing parts, magnetic shielding, and custom assembly tooling required for cryogenic environments.
- Microwave Optimisation: Solve complex challenges related to insertion loss, impedance matching, and cross-talk at both the PCB and package levels.
- Automation & Scripting: Integrate designs into our codebase. You will create Python scripts to automate design generation and implement Design Rule Checks to ensure every component is correct and manufacturable.
YOUR PROFILE
Education & Core Skills:
- MSc in RF Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- EM Simulation: Extensive experience with full-wave 3D electromagnetic solvers, specifically Ansys HFSS.
- CAD Mastery: Strong skills in 2D/3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk) for designing intricate parts and assemblies.
- Programming: Proficiency in Python for scripted design and workflow automation.
- RF Fundamentals: Solid knowledge of transmission lines, S-parameters, and complex impedance analysis.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with circuit-level design (filters, couplers, attenuators).
- Familiarity with superconductors or cryogenic electronics.
- Experience in high-density interconnects or 3D packaging.
- Hands-on experience with RF measurements and familiarity with VNA equipment.
WHAT WE OFFER:
At QuantWare, you’ll be part of a high-performing team of world-class experts in an ambitious, fast-moving environment. From day one, you’ll have the trust, tools, and support to do your best work. Here’s what you can expect:
Competitive salary - A competitive monthly salary, plus an 8% annual holiday bonus paid out each May
Pension that’s built to last - A future-proof pension plan that includes partner and dependent coverage. QuantWare covers 63% of the premium
