<p>Join the High Power Engineering team supporting xAI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a Civil Engineer on the Battery Storage team, you will work with a small on-site team to scale high-capacity power systems on a schedule set by compute demand. The position is based in Memphis, TN, with potential travel to other sites.</p>
<h3><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Own civil and site design for the battery storage plant: pads, foundations, grading, drainage, access roads, fire lanes, and equipment yards coordinated with electrical collection and NFPA 855 spacing.</li>
<li>Support the fire and life-safety case with civil provisions: water supply, hydrant layout, deflagration venting clearances, and emergency vehicle access for AHJ review.</li>
<li>Coordinate seismic and severe-weather (tornado/high-wind) structural design basis for storage blocks, transformers, and equipment supports with structural engineering.</li>
<li>Produce issued-for-construction civil packages: site plans, sections, details, specifications, and bid support.</li>
<li>Resolve field RFIs, submittals, and installation quality issues during construction of the storage yard.</li>
<li>Coordinate underground electrical duct banks, oil containment, and grounding grid civil interfaces with Design and Ops/Build engineers.</li>
<li>Maintain as-built civil records for the storage plant.</li>
</ul>
<h3>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or another engineering discipline.</li>
<li>3+ years of civil or structural design experience on industrial, energy, or data center sites.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Professional Engineering license or intention to actively seek a PE license.</li>
<li>NFPA 855 or energy-storage site civil experience.</li>
<li>Experience with seismic qualification and severe-weather hardening of outdoor electrical equipment.</li>
<li>AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent site-design software experience.</li>
<li>Experience coordinating civil packages with medium-voltage collection and fire-protection design.</li>
<li>Experience defending a design to an authority having jurisdiction.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights.</li>
<li>Work extended hours and weekends as needed to support construction, energization, and operations.</li>
<li>Remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing appropriate PPE.</li>
<li>Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.</li>
<li>Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.</li>
<li>Willing to work on-site in Memphis, TN. This is not a remote or hybrid role.</li>
<li>Travel up to 25% for factory witness testing, vendor and OEM engagement, and supporting other sites.</li>
<li>Valid driver's license.</li>
